Odongo Okune Commends Yosam Odur Ebii for Strengthening Lango Culture

The Paramount Chief of Lango, His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, has urged the people of Lango to recognize and appreciate the achievements of Yosam Odur Ebii, the former leader of the Lango Cultural Foundation, for his role in preserving the culture and heritage of Lango.
While addressing his newly appointed cabinet ministers, Odongo Okune acknowledged that, despite some gaps in Lango’s cultural preservation, Odur Ebii made significant strides in uniting the region’s cultural leaders.
“When Yosam Odur Ebii was elected chairperson of all Lango clan leaders, he ensured that the scattered clan heads came together. He continued this effort even after being officially enthroned as the Paramount Chief,” Odongo Okune stated.

He admitted that, at one point, he and Odur Ebii had differences that led to the formation of two factions. However, he emphasized that these disagreements do not diminish Odur Ebii’s contributions to Lango’s unity and cultural preservation.
Odongo Okune further highlighted the challenges Lango culture faced, particularly during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency, and commended Odur Ebii for stepping in to foster unity during those difficult times.
He also urged his cabinet ministers and other cultural leaders to take cultural preservation and development seriously, stressing the importance of restoring Lango’s past glory by strengthening the spirit of unity and love.
Additionally, Odongo Okune emphasized the need for a cultural constitution for both the Lango Cultural Institution and individual clans because he believes that having a clear constitutional framework will help resolve disputes effectively and prevent uncertainty in handling arising issues within different clans.
